In a latest, the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (B.J.P.) has dissolved all its cells and departments in the state. The significant development took place on Thursday.
It needs to be noted that a section of the party’s leadership, expressed displeasure that the members of the community had not been adequately represented. This included leaders from the Matua community as well. Matua leader and Lok Sabha MP, Santanu Thakur, recently met a number of MLA’s from the Matua community. He later said that that they had demanded that a few of the party’s committees should be reconstructed in such a fashion that they get adequate representation.
Notably, BJP leaders, namely Jay Prakash Majumdar and Santanu Basu have also been left out of the newly formed committee. Key organizational posts have been lost as well.
The Bharatiya Janata Party had appointed Majumdar as the State unit president in 2021, after the political party lost to the Trinamool by a massive margin in the Assembly Elections. Since then a large number of BJP leaders have defected to the TMC.
